I don't want to be your preacher
But I'm here to speak of poetry
And all that it can be
You would think I would give you rules and regulations
But with poetry there is no segregation
The nouns dance with adjectives and completely engulf the verbs
Because all in all they are all just words
Like paint colors you mix and blend together
To stay on the page like rhyming brethren
Having each vowel and syllable play out a note
Allowing your diction and rhythm to emote
Because you thought I would give you a list of don'ts
A big deep encumbering moat
Of rules of sound, diction, style and punctuation
But it's really up to your manipulation
To dress the letters while addressing the sounds
And soon enough your writing will bound
To leap from ear to ear of the person sitting across from you
Or even just sticking on the page smiling up at you
Because poetry is free form personality
A visual and lyrical sense of reality
To express to others how you see and interpret the world
Or a self respecting dumping of all the absurd
Because poetry had no rules no cuts and no standards
Only written with questions never meant to be answers
For poetry is a different representation of who you are and how you feel
For sometimes only the words are meant for you to interpret as real
